In addition to our Saturday drama classes, the Garrick Academy of Performing Arts is pleased to offer both one to one speech and drama lessons as well as the opportunity to complete speech and drama exams with the London College of Music (LCM).
Our lessons are designed for all ages and levels of experience. For those unfamiliar with acting, speech and drama lessons offer a great introduction to the skills needed for both amateur and professional performance. If you are already familiar with the dramatic arts, LCM exams provide a great opportunity to develop acting techniques and challenge yourself as you progress through the grades. LCM’s exams are regulated by Ofqual and UCAS points are awarded at certain levels, making our higher level courses particularly beneficial for those applying for university.
As a stepping-stone towards LCM progression, we also offer in-house assessments at the end of some courses, replicating an examination experience in order to build confidence for the future. However, neither exams or assessments are compulsory; lessons are tailored to suit the individuals’ needs, whether that is acquiring new skills or refreshing old ones!
We also offer one off lessons for those requiring help in preparing for auditions or public speaking events. Not only do we provide a fantastic performance space for rehearsal, we also have a qualified tutor to help you work through a variety of material and improve your confidence.
The half-hour lessons take place between 1.30pm and 6.30pm on a Saturday in a private room within the theatre; with time slots allocated on a “first come first served” basis.
Courses begin at various dates throughout the year, so don’t delay in signing up as places are limited.
