Latest News of Auditions for the Garrick 2014/15 Season
Following the huge success of our recent musical GYPSY, the Garrick Playhouse is shortly holding further auditions for its Christmas Season and early Spring 2015 productions.
OLIVER! – this will be our second round of auditions for this production – (audition date to be confirmed)
Production Dates: 19th January 2015 – 1st February 2015
Parts for all the boys including Oliver, Dodger and most roles
other than the part of Nancy which is already cast.
The Ghosts of Scrooge – additional additions – (audition date to be confirmed)
Production Dates: 9th – 13th December 2014 and 6th – 10th January 2015
All Roles
The production will have a very modern, zany take on the classic Dickens’ Christmas Carol. The Chorus must all be good singers & actors who will have the opportunity to play several roles and change from Ghosts to Characters in order to fill the stage full of energy, movement, pathos, humour & fun so that it will appeal to everyone from 10 – 100!
SCROOGE – Age about 35 & 60 – a slim and not too small actor who is capable of showing a mean, dour and miserable character with no warmth but with the ability to change into a genial, smiley, happy and kindly man in the end!
GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST/PRESENT/FUTURE – One actor plays all three Spirits – needs to be an actor with versatility to cope with the three different Spirit characters.
TINY TIM – Age about 9-13 he should be a small boy who could look sickly a singer with big beseeching eyes that can captivate the audience. Also playing URCHIN
(An understudy for Tiny Tim may be a possibility so that the roles can be alternated).
MALE CHORUS:
CHORUS 1 & JACOB MARLEY – Age about 40-60 – an actor who plays a feisty ghost who is searching for eternal rest – he was Scrooge’s business partner.
Also playing MR FEZZIWIG & OLD JOE
CHORUS 2 & BOB CRATCHIT – Age about 35 he is slim, humble, pleasant and a long suffering character who is a devoted family man.
Also playing BOY 1 & CHORUS
CHORUS 3 & FRED – Age 20-30 Scrooge’s nephew a happy/genial fellow and an eternal optimist.
Also playing YOUNG JACOB MARLEY
CHORUS 4 & DICK – Age about 20 – 30 he is young apprentice/school friend with Scrooge.
Also playing PETER CRATCHIT & BOY 2
FEMALE CHORUS:
CHORUS 5 & MRS CRATCHIT – Age about 30s she is at the end of her tether with poverty, children and a sick youngest child and is tired of excuses for Scrooge’s miserliness
Also playing GIRL 1 & YOUNG JOSEPHINE
CHORUS 6 & BELLE & BELINDA– Age about 20s – Belle was Scrooge’s fiancé and Belinda is Fred’s fiancée.
Also playing GIRL 2
CHORUS 7 & MRS FEZZIWIG – Age about 30’s to 40’s a jolly lady who has an eye for the boys!
Also playing LADY & MRS DILBER
CHORUS 8 & FRAN – Age about 20s she is Scrooge’s sister who appears as a delicate & ethereal young girl – Fred is her child.
Also playing MARTHA CRATCHIT
Jack and the Beanstalk – this show is mostly cast though we are still looking for addtional cast members – (audition date to be confirmed)

The Phantom of the Opera
Youth Version – Show dates – 13th – 17th April 2015.
Audition Date: Sunday 2nd November 2014
10.30am – 4.30pm
We are looking for 16- 21* year olds to be part of this exciting production.
You will be required to take part in our full audition day to be considered for a place in the show.
* You must be 16- 21 years for the production week, your age during rehearsals is not important.
The Audition Day
10.30am- 11.00am– Introductions to the production team and the show
11.00am – 12.00pm – Acting/ Singing workshop
12.00pm- 12.30pm – Lunch (please bring your own packed lunch)
12-30pm – 1.30pm – Dancers audition
1.30pm- 4.30pm– Auditions for Principals, Supporting Roles and Ensemble

You must register/apply for the audition.
Once you have registered we will supply you with an audition pack.
Inside that pack each principal role has a song/songs that must be learnt fully for the audition.
You may audition for more than one role.
If you are wishing to be part of the ensemble we still ask that you audition as a role but state to the panel that you only wish to be considered for ensemble.
There is no other ensemble audition piece so you must pick a song from the pack.

Musical Director- Daniel McDwyer and Choreographer- Kirsty Hooper
Full cast calls will usually be Sundays and Mondays with principals and dancers using Wednesdays.
Fridays will be rarely used.
Sunday rehearsals will be 10.30am- 5.30pm and week day rehearsals will be 7.30pm-10.00pm.
There will also full day rehearsals on Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th, Thursday 9th, Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April.
A full rehearsal timetable will be given at the audition.
